Bay Area Recycling for Charities (BARC) is a Traverse City, Michigan-based non-profit company that offers comprehensive recycling services and eco-friendly products for homes, businesses, and events. When you recycle through BARC, it not only helps the environment, but also supports local charities, and that’s good for everyone.

Project Overview
In 2018, LaLa Projects worked with Bay Area Recycling of Charities to freshen up their brand and build a new custom WordPress website. We started managing their existing website in 2014, so by the time they were ready for a redesign, we had a really deep understanding of exactly what BARC needed out of a website. It was so exciting to be afforded the opportunity to design a new website and give them the exact tools that they needed.
Project Details
The BARC website redesign and development project was a large undertaking. Content Strategy was an important consideration when undertaking the website design portion of the project. One of the primary objectives was to improve the user experience by sharing the service information in a clear and efficient manner. Another objective was to create call-to-actions throughout the website to help customers get what they need and for BARC to build their client base. For this we created all kind of custom forms, from simple subscribe forms, easy-to-use forms for requesting service pickups, to complex forms for booking Zero Waste Events.
We included sections on the home page for a Featured Local Non-Profit, Friends of BARC, and Testimonials. We also built custom blog templates and a wooCommerce shop for selling compostable serviceware.
